Terms for hosts and guests

Last updated 31 October 2026

These Terms are the rules for using Chalgo (the website and its services), run by Followcan Technologies Private Limited (“Chalgo”, “we”, “us”), at A-35, Brotherhood Society, H Block, Vikaspuri, New Delhi - 110018. They apply to everyone who visits the site, books an event or hosts an event. By using Chalgo you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

Each host also publishes their own house rules on their page. Those cover the event itself (dress code, what to bring) and never safety: the rules on this page always come first. Each event page also shows the host’s refund policy, which is the host’s promise to you: see section 4.

About Your account Booking Money Hosting Safety Content Responsibility Law and disputes Other

1. About Chalgo

Chalgo is a platform for events: hosts publish trips, house parties and meetups, and guests book them. We provide the booking page, ID verification, balanced guest lists and the tools to book and pay. Chalgo is run by Followcan Technologies Private Limited, which also runs FollowCan, a Link in Bio service with its own terms.

Chalgo is an intermediary. The host, not Chalgo, organises and runs each event, decides what it includes, sets its price and its refund policy, and is responsible for all of it. The booking is a contract between the guest and the host. Refunds, cancellations, changes and anything that goes wrong at the event are between the host and the guest. We do not provide transport, accommodation, venues or supervision, and we are not a party to the arrangement between a guest and a host. What Chalgo does promise is one thing: on a paid event, and on a free event with verified guests, the host and the guests have verified their identity with Chalgo. We do not promise anything else about a host, a guest or an event, and an ID check does not tell us how a person will behave. People who put pages and links on Chalgo are responsible for them.

2. Your account

  • Who can use it. You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract under Indian law. Chalgo is for adults.
  • Sign-up and sign-in. Hosts sign up with an email address, which they confirm with a code we email, and choose a password; they then log in with that email and password. A mobile number is optional. They can also choose Continue with Facebook, which confirms the email without a code. Guests who book confirm their mobile number with an SMS code and give an email. We only send messages to an email address or mobile number that has been verified. If one is not verified we ask you to verify it and tell you why, and until you do we do not write to it. Keep your password, phone, email and Facebook account secure; you are responsible for what happens through your account.
  • Invites. While Chalgo is in its early stage, new accounts may need an invite. We can change or end this at any time.
  • Accurate details. Give true information and keep it up to date. Giving false details can lead to bookings being cancelled and your account being closed.
  • ID verification. To book an event, to host, or to be paid, you verify your identity through DigiLocker, the Government of India service, using an identity-verification partner. You do this once. We do not store any government ID document (such as Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence or passport), any copy or photo of one, or your ID number. We keep only a one-way fingerprint of your DigiLocker identifier, your date of birth and the gender shown on the ID, so that one ID can be linked to one account. See the Privacy policy.
  • One person, one account. A closed account cannot sign in or book, and the ID used for it cannot open another account.

3. Booking an event

  • Kinds of event. A host chooses what kind of event to run. A paid event has a price: guests pay the ticket on Chalgo when they book, and every guest is ID-verified. A free event with verified guests has no price and every guest is ID-verified. A free event has no price and no ID check: Chalgo does not verify its guests, its groups are open to everyone, Chalgo does not share an address, and its page says “Guests are not ID-verified”. A free event may not ask guests for money. Only paid events have a group chat.
  • Time limits. After you book, verify your ID within 48 hours, or the seat goes back on sale. A seat offered from the standby queue must be accepted within 12 hours.
  • Balanced groups and the standby queue. A host chooses who can join an event: a balanced group with seats for each side, a flexible limit, open to everyone, or women-only or men-only. The group you book in is checked against the gender on your verified ID. When a side is full, new requests join the standby queue and the first person waiting is offered a seat when one opens. A host can also let a specific person in.
  • The group chat. Hosts can switch on a group chat for an event. It is for guests with a confirmed seat and the host. It opens about 48 hours before the start and closes about 24 hours after the event ends. You appear as your first name and the first letter of your last name; your phone number and email are never shown. Messages are deleted 7 days after the chat closes. The conduct rules in section 8 apply there too.
  • Your address. The exact address is shared only with confirmed, ID-verified guests, as the host chose: as soon as you are confirmed, or about 24 hours before the start. Do not share it.

4. Money, refunds and cancellations

  • In short. Refunds and cancellations are between you and the host. The host sets the refund policy on the event page. Chalgo collects the ticket money for the host and passes it on, and helps process a refund the policy requires, but Chalgo does not promise or guarantee refunds and does not refund from its own money.
  • Who you pay. You pay the ticket of a paid event online (UPI, card or net banking), when you book. Chalgo collects it for the host through our payment partner, Cashfree, and passes the host’s share on to the host. Chalgo keeps its small fee out of the ticket, so guests pay nothing extra. The price, and what the host provides for it, is between you and the host. We do not see or keep your UPI PIN, card or bank details. Prices are in Indian rupees. Where GST applies it is shown on the invoice we issue for amounts we charge.
  • Is there a deposit? No. There is no hold and no security amount. You pay the ticket price once, when you book. The most you can lose is the ticket, and only as the host’s refund policy says.
  • If you cancel. You can cancel from your booking page. You are refunded as the host’s refund policy says: the policy is shown on the event page before you book and is saved with your booking when you make it. It says how many days before the start a cancellation is refunded in full, what percentage is refunded after that, and what happens to a no-show. A host can mark an event non-refundable: its page says so and you accept it before you pay. Then cancelling, or not turning up, returns nothing. A later change by the host to the policy does not affect your booking. The refund rules in full are on the cancellations and refunds page.
  • If you do not show up. A confirmed guest who is not checked in is treated as a no-show. The ticket money is refunded only as far as the host chose for that event (none, half or all), shown on the host’s page before you book.
  • When you are refunded in full. Under every host’s policy, you get back everything you paid if the host cancels the event, removes you, or changes the date, time or place and you cancel within the days shown on the refunds page. You also get everything back if your ID check does not match the seat, or the time to verify your ID runs out, because the seat is then not confirmed. We start these refunds as described next.
  • How a refund reaches you. When a refund is due, the host owes it to you. Chalgo processes it through our payment partner to the account or card you paid from, and the matching amount is taken from the host’s share. If Chalgo has already paid the host’s share, the refund is the host’s to make, Chalgo does not refund from its own money, and your claim is against the host. In that case write to us from your booking page: we will give you the host’s verified details and help you reach them, and a host who does not refund can have their page paused, be removed, and be pursued by Chalgo and by you. Your bank may take several working days to show a refund.
  • Free events. A free event is free. If a host asks you for money for one, before or at the event, press “The host asked me to pay something else” on your booking page and we will look into it. On a free event without ID checks, Chalgo has not verified who the guests are: take the care you would at any gathering of people you do not know.
  • Disputes about a charge. Write to [email protected] with your booking reference and we will look into it. We may ask for details.

5. Hosting

  • Becoming a host. Anyone can sign up as a host, set up their page, and create and preview events. To publish an event, and for the host’s page to go live, the host must first verify their ID through DigiLocker. A host’s page cannot go live, or come back after a suspension, until the ID check is done. A host also verifies a payout account (UPI or bank, matched to their ID name) and gives their PAN once, under Verify & get paid, so that our payment partner can settle their share of every ticket to them. Payouts follow the rules below.
  • Your duties. Give accurate information about your events and venues; hold the permissions your venue or activity needs; keep guests safe; follow the law; and honour confirmed bookings. You are responsible for your own taxes, including GST where it applies, and for any licences, insurance and permissions your event needs.
  • You set the refund policy, and refunds are yours. For each event you choose the number of days for a full refund, the percentage refunded after that, and whether a no-show gets none, half or all of their ticket money back, or you mark the event non-refundable, within limits (7 days and 50% to start). It is shown to guests before they book and saved with each booking; a later change does not affect guests who already booked. By publishing an event you accept that you are responsible for it, for its refund policy and for the refunds it requires. The booking is a contract between you and the guest, not with Chalgo. When a refund is due, Chalgo processes it through our payment partner and takes the matching amount from your share. If your share has already been paid to you, you must pay the refund back yourself when Chalgo asks you to. If you do not, your page can be paused for new bookings, you can be warned or removed, Chalgo can give the guest your verified details, and Chalgo and the guest can take legal action against you to recover what you owe. Your house rules cannot take any of this away from guests.
  • What Chalgo charges hosts. There is no monthly fee. On a paid event Chalgo keeps a seat fee (₹30 + 6% of the seat price, at most 10% of it, at least ₹15, never more than ₹2,950 in total with GST, plus GST) out of each ticket before the rest is settled to you; you do not pay it separately and do not top anything up. On a free event with verified guests, ₹49, GST included for each verified guest is taken from your prepaid credit (add at least ₹300 at a time; adding credit carries a small service charge that covers the payment gateway’s cost, and credit can only be used for Chalgo’s fees, it cannot be withdrawn). Part of each seat fee (the ID check, GST included) is never returned. The rest is returned when an event is cancelled or a guest cancels in good time, and kept when a guest cancels late or does not come.
  • Payouts. Our payment partner settles your share of each ticket (the ticket less Chalgo’s seat fee) to the payout account you verified, on its settlement schedule. Chalgo may hold or delay a payout, for example for a new host, or while a refund, a complaint or a safety report about an event is open, until the event has taken place and any such matter is settled. A refund takes the matching part back. The seat fee is shown on every invoice we issue.
  • Taxes. You are responsible for your own taxes, including GST if you must register for it. Chalgo issues you a tax invoice for each seat fee and a credit note when a fee is returned, using the tax details you give under Tax details (the state decides IGST or CGST and SGST). If the law requires Chalgo to collect tax at source (GST TCS) or deduct tax (TDS) on your sales, we will tell you, show it in your Earnings and give you a statement. Keep your tax details correct: invoices already issued are not reissued for a mistake you made.
  • Free events. A host can have up to 3 free events live at a time, with up to 30 guests each. A free event may not ask guests for money. The text of a free event that mentions money is checked by a person before it goes live. A host who charges for a free event, or takes more than the listed price, can be warned, paused or removed, and the fee is due on the price guests really paid.
  • Guest information. A host sees the name, contact details and attendance history (check-ins only) of guests who book their events. Use it only to run the event and keep guests safe. Do not misuse it, copy it or share it.
  • Suspension. We can suspend a host’s page, with or without cancelling upcoming events, if there are complaints, safety concerns or a breach of these Terms. If an event is cancelled this way, guests who already booked are refunded in full through the process in section 4, from the host’s share, and the host remains responsible for it.

6. Conduct and guest safety

  • Zero tolerance. Harassment, discrimination, violence, spiking, recording people without their consent and any behaviour that makes others unsafe are not allowed, at an event or in messages about one. We can remove a guest or host and, for serious cases, permanently ban them.
  • Report a problem. Guests: open your booking and choose Report a problem. Hosts: use Report beside a guest on your guest list. You can also write to [email protected] with the booking reference or the page address. In an emergency call the police first (112 in India). We review every report. We may warn someone, remove a guest from an event, suspend a host and cancel their events (guests are refunded in full), take a page offline, or close an account for good. The person reported does not see who reported them.
  • Staying safe. Tell someone you trust where you are going, travel with care, and leave if you are uncomfortable. IDs are verified, but we cannot know how anyone will behave. Only attend events you are comfortable with.
  • Reviews. Only guests who attended can review an event, for 30 days after it. Hosts can reply. We can hide a review that is abusive, off-topic or breaks these Terms.

7. What you put on Chalgo

  • Yours, but we can show it. You keep ownership of what you post (pictures, text, links, reviews, messages). You give Chalgo a free, worldwide licence to store, display and share it only as needed to run the service, for as long as it is on Chalgo.
  • You promise that you have the right to post it and that it does not break the law or anyone’s rights.
  • Pictures you upload. This covers profile pictures, logos, covers and event photos. Upload only pictures you own or have permission to use. They must not be someone else’s copyrighted work. Chalgo does not check or verify who owns a picture and is not responsible or liable for what users upload. The person who uploads a picture is responsible for it, including any claim made about it.
  • No nudity. Nudity and sexually explicit pictures are not allowed anywhere on Chalgo, including covers, logos and event photos.
  • Not allowed: pretending to be someone else; scams, phishing or malware; links to sites that collect other people’s details under false pretences; nudity or sexually explicit content; content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, or that threatens or exploits people; infringing someone’s copyright or trademark; spam; and trying to break, overload or get around the service.
  • Taking things down. We may remove any content, page or link that breaks these Terms or the law, or when we are required to, at any time and without telling you first. For serious or repeated breaches, such as nudity or using someone else’s copyrighted pictures, we may close the account permanently, also without notice. A page we take offline for safety reasons cannot be brought back by its owner. If you think something infringes your rights or is unlawful, write to our Grievance Officer (section 12).

8. Our responsibility

  • Events carry real-world risk. You take part at your own risk. We cannot control or guarantee what hosts or other guests do.
  • The service “as is”. We work to keep Chalgo available and accurate, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and the services of third parties (payments, DigiLocker, SMS, email) can fail.
  • Limit. To the extent the law allows, Chalgo is responsible for the booking, verification and payment service it provides and for nothing else. In particular Chalgo is not responsible for an event, for what a host or guest does, or for refunds, which are between the host and the guest as section 4 says. We are not liable for losses caused by a host, a guest or another user, or for pictures and other content that users upload; for indirect or consequential loss; or for loss of profit, data or opportunity. Where we are liable to you, our total liability for a claim is limited to the amount you paid us (or, for a payout, the amount we held for you) in connection with it. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
  • Indemnity. You will cover our reasonable costs if a claim against us arises because you broke these Terms or the law, or because of what you posted or did at an event you hosted.

9. Law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. We would like to settle any disagreement directly first: write to [email protected]. If we cannot, the courts at New Delhi, India have exclusive jurisdiction, except where the law lets a consumer use another forum.

10. Other things you should know

  • Your data. How we use your data, how long we keep it and how to download or delete it are in the Privacy policy.
  • Grievance Officer. Complaints about content, accounts or these Terms: write to Nidhi Manchanda at [email protected]. We acknowledge a complaint within 24 hours and aim to resolve it within 15 days.
  • Suspension and ending. You can stop using Chalgo, and delete your account, at any time (some open bookings, refunds or payouts must finish first). We can suspend or end your access for breaking these Terms, for safety reasons or if the law requires. Sections that by their nature should survive (money owed, liability, law and disputes) do.
  • Changes. We may update these Terms. The version on this page applies to bookings and use from the date shown above; for a significant change we will tell you by email or on the site. Using Chalgo after a change means you accept it.
  • If a part does not apply. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a right now does not mean we give it up.
  • Questions. Write to [email protected].
