Cancellations and refunds
Last updated 31 October 2026
This page explains how refunds work: what you get back when you cancel, when a host changes or cancels an event, and how a refund reaches you. It is part of our Terms.
In one minute What is paid, and to whom If you cancel If the host changes the event Refunded in full No-shows How a refund reaches you Questions
In one minute
- Refunds and cancellations are between you and the host. The booking is a contract between you and the host, not with Chalgo. The host sets the refund policy, and it is on the event page before you book.
- Chalgo checks that hosts and guests are who they say they are. Chalgo does not guarantee a refund and does not refund from its own money.
- You pay the ticket on Chalgo, when you book. Chalgo collects it for the host and passes the host’s share on. When a refund is due, Chalgo helps process it back to where you paid from, and the matching amount comes out of the host’s share.
- If the host has already been paid, the refund is the host’s to make. Write to us from your booking page and we will give you the host’s verified details and help you reach them.
- There is no deposit or hold. You pay the ticket price once. Chalgo charges you nothing on top.
- Some events are marked non-refundable. The event page says so and you tick a box to accept it before you pay. Then cancelling, or not turning up, returns nothing, but a host cancellation, a failed ID check or a changed event are still refunded in full.
- The policy you saw when you booked is the one that applies to you, even if the host changes it later.
1. What is paid, and to whom
- Paid event. You pay the whole ticket online (UPI, card or net banking) to book your seat, then verify your ID once. Chalgo keeps its small fee out of the ticket; you pay nothing extra. The rest is the host’s. If your ID check fails or you cannot be seated, your seat is not confirmed and you are refunded in full.
- Free event. Nothing is paid. A free event may not ask you for money; if one does, tell us from your booking page.
If your booking never completes, nothing is charged.
2. If you cancel
Each host chooses two numbers for their event: how many days before it a cancellation is refunded in full, and what percentage is refunded after that. A new host page starts with 7 days and 50%. The numbers are on the event page and on your booking before you cancel, and they are saved with your booking when you make it.
| When you cancel a confirmed seat | Ticket money you paid |
|---|---|
| At least the host’s number of days before the event starts | Refunded in full |
| Closer than that | The host’s late percentage is refunded |
| After the event has started | Nothing |
Example: the host’s numbers are 7 days and 50%, and the ticket is ₹1,500. You cancel 10 days before: you get ₹1,500 back. You cancel 3 days before: you get ₹750 back.
If you leave before your seat is confirmed, you get the ticket back in full if you had already paid.
Non-refundable events. If the event page says “Non-refundable once booked”, the two numbers above do not apply: a guest who cancels, or does not show up, gets nothing back. Everything in section 4 is still refunded in full.
3. If the host changes the event
If the host changes the date, time or place after you booked, we email you. For 7 days after the change you can cancel and get everything back, in full.
4. When you are refunded in full
You are refunded in full when:
- the host cancels the event, including when it did not reach its minimum number of guests;
- the host removes you from the event;
- Chalgo closes the host’s page or removes you after a safety review (the host stays responsible for the event, and the refund is processed as in section 6);
- your ID check does not match the seat (for example a women-only event), or the time to verify your ID ran out.
5. If you do not show up
If you are confirmed but do not come, you are a no-show. The host chooses, for each event, whether a no-show gets back none, half or all of the ticket money. That choice is shown when you book and does not change afterwards. You never lose more than the ticket.
6. How a refund reaches you
- When a refund is due, the host owes it to you. Chalgo starts it through our payment partner as soon as it is due and emails you when it does, and the matching amount is taken from the host’s share.
- The refund goes back to the account or card you paid from. Your bank may take several working days to show it.
- If Chalgo has already paid the host’s share, the refund is the host’s to make and your claim is against the host. Chalgo does not refund from its own money. Write to us from your booking page and we will give you the host’s verified details and help you reach them. A host who does not refund can have their page paused or be removed, and can be pursued by Chalgo and by you.
7. Common questions
I cancelled. Where is my money?
Look for our email: it says how much is coming back and to where. If it is late, write to us from your booking page.
Who refunds me, Chalgo or the host?
The host owes the refund, because the booking is between you and the host. Chalgo collects the ticket money for the host and helps process a refund the policy requires, from the host’s share. Chalgo does not refund from its own money.
The host has already been paid and will not refund me.
Write to us from your booking page. We give you the host’s verified details and help you reach them, and we can pause or remove the host. Your claim for the money is against the host.
Is there a deposit or security amount?
No. You pay the ticket once. Chalgo takes nothing on top. The most you can lose is the ticket money, and only as the host’s refund policy says.
The event is non-refundable. What if the host cancels it?
You are refunded in full. Non-refundable only covers your own cancellation and a no-show.
The host changed the date. Can I leave?
Yes, for 7 days after the change. You get everything back.
The host changed their refund numbers after I booked.
The numbers you saw when you booked are the ones that apply to your booking.
The host asked me for money at a free event.
Tell us from your booking page (“The host asked me to pay something else”). A free event may not ask for money.
Can I get a different amount than the policy gives?
Only the host can agree to that. If you think the host did not follow their policy, write to [email protected] with your booking reference.
